Welcome back Indie Game Enthusiasts! Today, on Indie Game Update, we will continue our discussion from the previous week on what it takes to create an indie game!
Here are a few more pieces of advice. (Since TKD is a visual novel, this will be from the perspective of creating this specific game, but this advice can be applied to any game you desire to create.)
6. Gather Assets & Music
If your game requires a great deal of assets and music, it would be extremely useful to start searching for items you will be able to use for your game. A great place to start would be itch.io. Itch.io has tons of fonts to try as well as art assets such as characters and backgrounds. The best part is that some of the assets are free. It’s also great to look up music on Pixabay. Make sure you are allowed to use the music commercially though if you plan on making a profit from your game in the future.
7. Create Social Media Profiles
If you don’t already have a social media account, it is time you start making one as soon as you decide you want to make a game you plan to publish. Choose two to three main social media platforms on which you would like to post consistently. I use Instagram, TikTok as my main platforms and YouTube to post short promotional trailers. What may work for me might not work for you so try out all the social media platforms you believe will do well and then narrow down your decision. I do suggest you have Instagram as one of your main platforms. I believe that Instagram is one of the more stable and sustainable social media platforms.
That is all the advice I have for now!
*Next time, on Indie Game Update, we will dive into a few more pieces of advice on how to create your first indie game. THIS WILL BE A MULTI-PART SERIES.*(Updates Tuesday!)
See you soon!
